Privacy Policy

Your privacy is our highest priority

✨ Our Privacy Promise

At PixLens, we believe in complete transparency about data. Your privacy is not just a legal obligation it’s fundamental to who we are. We’ve designed PixLens to process all CSS inspection locally on your device, without collecting, storing, or sharing any personal information.

Privacy Overview

PixLens is a Chrome Extension designed with privacy-first principles. Every aspect of the extension respects user confidentiality and data protection.

Zero Data Collection

We don’t collect personal data, browsing history, or user behavior information.

🔒 Local Processing

All CSS inspection happens directly in your browser, never sent to external servers.

🚫 No Tracking

We don’t use tracking pixels, analytics cookies, or third-party trackers.

🛡️ Complete Control

You have full control over the extension and can disable/remove it anytime.

What Data We Collect

When you use PixLens, here’s what happens with your information:

🟢 Data We DO NOT Collect:

  • Personal Information: Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any identifying details
  • Browsing History: We don’t track which websites you visit or how long you spend on them
  • Behavioral Data: No information about your inspection patterns or preferences
  • Location Data: We don’t access, store, or transmit your geographic location
  • Device Information: Serial numbers, hardware details, or system configurations
  • Website Content: Full page content is never extracted or stored

🔵 Limited Local Data:

The extension may temporarily store minimal data locally on your device:

  • Inspection History: Recently inspected elements (stored locally only)
  • User Preferences: Toggle settings for Inspect/Spacing modes (stored in extensions directory)
  • Session State: Temporary cache of current page CSS data
⚠️ Important: This local data is stored only in your browser’s extension storage and is completely inaccessible to PixLens servers or any third party.

How We Process Website Content

Processing Architecture:

1

Element Detection

When you hover over an element, the Content Script detects it locally within your browser’s DOM.

2

CSS Extraction

The computed CSS styles are extracted using browser APIs (getComputedStyle), entirely within your device.

3

Local Display

Extracted information is displayed in the floating Inspector Panel no external transmission occurs.

4

Temporary Storage

Inspection history is stored temporarily in your browser’s extension storage and is automatically cleared when the extension is uninstalled.

Zero Transmission: No data leaves your browser. All processing is 100% local.

Local Storage & Browser Extension Storage

PixLens uses Chrome’s Extension Storage API to save user preferences and inspection history:

What’s Stored Locally:

  • Inspector mode toggles (Inspect, Spacing, Tooltip enabled/disabled)
  • Panel position and size preferences
  • Recent inspection history (element names, CSS properties)
  • UI theme preferences

Storage Access Control:

  • Data is stored exclusively in your browser’s extension storage partition
  • No other websites or applications can access this data
  • Data persists only while the extension is installed
  • Uninstalling the extension automatically deletes all stored data
  • You can clear the data manually anytime through extension settings
Note: Extensions operate in an isolated storage sandbox. Each browser profile maintains separate storage, and no cross-browser synchronization occurs.

No External Data Transmission

Guarantee:

PixLens does not transmit any data to external servers, cloud services, or third-party platforms.

What This Means:

  • Your inspection activities are never logged on remote servers
  • CSS data is never uploaded or backed up to PixLens infrastructure
  • Website URLs are not sent to tracking services
  • No telemetry or usage analytics are collected
  • You retain complete ownership and privacy of all inspected information
Fully Offline Capable: PixLens works perfectly without internet connection and requires zero external communication.
