Figma-style on-screen measurement, ruler, guide, and grid overlay tools for any website. It is designed to

assist web designers, front-end developers, and UX professionals.

PixelRuler requests certain browser permissions to function correctly. Below is a transparent explanation of

each permission and exactly why it is needed:

activeTab

Allows the extension to interact with the currently active browser tab when you click the

extension icon. This is used to inject the measurement overlay onto the page you are viewing. No data is

read or extracted from the tab.

scripting

Allows the extension to programmatically inject the ruler and guide drawing scripts into

a web page. This is the core mechanism that enables the visual overlay tools to appear on screen.

storage

Allows the extension to save your tool preferences (e.g., ruler color, grid settings,

guide positions) locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API. No data is ever sent to an

external server.

<all_urls>

Allows the content scripts to run on any website so the measurement tools are available

on every page you visit. This is necessary for a measurement tool intended for universal use across all

websites.

Local Storage

PixelRuler may save certain user preferences locally on your device using the Chrome Storage

API (chrome.storage.local or chrome.storage.sync). This may include:

Your preferred ruler or guide color
Grid size and column settings
Toggle states for various tool features

This data is stored only on your device. It is never transmitted to us or any third party. You

can delete this data at any time by removing the extension from your browser.
